Priorities
TAXES
Minnesota’s taxes were some of the highest in the nation, even before the DFL raised taxes by more than $10 billion last session. I will work to help Shakopee families keep more of their hard-earned money, and fight to finally end all taxes on social security benefits once and for all.
EDUCATION
As a father to three children, I am a strong supporter of our local schools and want every student to get a great education. I will support policies that promote improvements to reading, math, science, and writing skills and help students catch up from learning loss that occurred during the pandemic.
PUBLIC SAFETY
As a long-time police officer, I’ve been on the front lines dealing with the dramatic increase in crime we’ve seen over the past few years. I will be a strong supporter of law enforcement and make sure our state, county, and local law enforcement agencies have the resources needed to combat violent crime, fight the fentanyl crisis, and hold criminals accountable so we can begin to get crime under control.
STATE BUDGET
State spending rose by more than 40% last session – an unsustainable increase that will put Minnesota at risk for future budget deficits. We need to get spending under control, and stop wasting money on massive wasteful projects like the $730 million “Palace for Politicians” office building that Democrats recently approved. Agencies should always be looking for ways to save money and resources, and we should use any savings to help reduce the tax burden for families. I will work to eliminate waste and fraud in our public programs and always remember that tax dollars come from Minnesotans and need to be respected.
SROS
Poor Democratic leadership in Minnesota led to the removal of School Resource Officers from classrooms. After public outcry, Republicans secured a deal to reverse this decision, but our work is far from over. We need elected officials who prioritize the safety of our students and teachers over political agendas. If elected, I will ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. I will continue to push for changes that give law enforcement the certainty they need to maintain their presence in schools, ensuring the safety of students and teachers without interruption. I am glad we were able to get school resource officers back into the schools where they were needed, but there is more that needs to be done. We need to make sure this does not happen again.
